Support for Silverado

As a long time resident and practicing physician in Brea and Fullerton, I am delighted to express my support for the Silverado Brea Development Project.

Silverado has been lauded with countless awards for its quality and innovation in memory care. From Medicare, 5-STAR Rating, from the OC Register, Top Workplace 2016, the 2016 Alzheimer’s Association Corporate Award and the Hospice Action network Advocacy Innovator Award.

The quality of such an enterprise must be a reflection of its leadership. Loren Shook, Silverado CEO, loves what he does. Bringing dignity and meaning to the lives and families of those with dementia is a challenge that Loren embraced at an early age, and his remarkable success reflects his values of caring for the most vulnerable.

Every year Silverado families are surveyed by U.S. News & World Report about their experience with us. Here are just a few comments shared by verified Silverado Beach Cities family members when surveyed:

“When our family member needed more care than the last community was able to provide, I started checking out a number of places. Silverado stood above all others. From the moment I walked into the community, I could sense the difference: the way the staff spoke to and treated the residents, the beauty and cleanliness of the facility, the interesting activities, and most importantly, the happy and engaged residents themselves. Now that our loved one is a content resident there, we are very thankful we chose Silverado.”

“My father, who is suffering with dementia, is truly loved by the wonderful staff at Silverado Brea. They treat him with respect and his safety is always a top concern. I have full confidence in everyone there, and know that in my Dad’s sunset years he will be cared for deeply.”

“Given that memory loss is horrible for all concerned, the issue then becomes one of doing the best we can for our family members and loved ones who have been dealt this awful disease. I know of no better facility for my loved one; she is safe, comfortable, has peace of mind and is cared for as well as can be expected, better even. There were options. There were and are other facilities that are much closer to where I live; were recommended by others, even our doctor; and would have cost a lot less, to the point that our available insurance would have almost covered the entire deal. But there was never a question about choosing Silverado. Roughly a quarter-century ago, after very extensive shopping, we had placed my mother-in-law at a Silverado location and that experience had been memorably wonderful. When my loved one knew that increasing loss of memory was in her future, we had several talks about it and she knew then that, if that time came, she wanted it to be Silverado. That was enough. She is now in the best spot of which I am aware and I am not moving her. She is my princess and I will love her forever and I will do the very best for her that I can. She always gave her very best for me. I can do no less.”

    Why choose Silverado?

Many families shared the peace of mind they experienced when they finally chose Silverado after wrestling with feelings of guilt that comes from deciding to reach out for help. Even a family working together cannot replicate what an expert team of professionals who do this for a living and get to go home at night and rest can provide. Even superhuman strength eventually gives out. Once families make a move to Silverado and see that their loved one is better off and they can sleep again, the common refrain is, “I should have moved my loved one in earlier.” They are relieved to be the daughter, son, husband, or wife again and not the caregiver.

We want to reassure you that we understand that no one knows your loved one more than you do. We are the experts in what we do, having led the way in memory care for over 20 years. Families have shared they recognized that a delay in placement is a delay in care in treating this illness, and we know that a delay can result in a dangerous crisis for the exhausted caregiver or your loved one. Do not wait for an emergency. We invite you to give us a call at (714) 598-2052 and schedule a time to visit Silverado Brea.

In fact, we’re so confident that Silverado is the best choice to provide for your loved one’s needs we offer a satisfaction pledge unequaled in memory care.

We look forward to meeting you soon.
