Heather’s Career Growth at Silverado

A sense of purpose is an important part of the care we provide, but it’s also very important to the associates who provide that care. Heather, an RN Case Manager at Silverado Hospice Orange County, is a great example of this!

Heather started at a Silverado memory care community in 2014 as a part-time receptionist, working to gain experience toward her eventual goal of becoming a nurse. “I would help out other departments whenever they needed assistance. Over the course of a year I ended up working in every line-level position in the community – reception, housekeeping, laundry, culinary aide, caregiver, administrative assistant and unit secretary,” details Heather.

Heather’s dedication paid off quickly, with a promotion to Patient & Family Services Coordinator in 2015, then two more promotions in 2016. This role allowed her the flexibility to earn her nursing credential and still work a rewarding job assisting families in need of care.

Now an RN as well as a mother, Heather appreciates the work/life balance being a hospice nurse provides. “It’s a company that I love to give 100% to because they have always taken such great care of me and helped me accomplish both personal and career-based goals,” she shares.

And Heather isn’t done with her growth yet! “I plan to use Silverado’s tuition reimbursement as I go back to school to finish my BSN program,” says Heather. “Without that benefit I wouldn’t be able to afford that next big step in my education/career.”
