To kick off the first week of autumn, Silverado Southlake invited guests and local girl scouts to our community for a day of gardening and education. Therapeutic Horticulturist Susan Morgan and Calloway Plant Nursery’s Ty Poynter were on hand at our Renewal Garden to educate guests on the benefits of gardening. Residents, family members, and over 20 girl scouts enjoyed a morning of planting herbs and vegetables that will be used for residents’ cooking!
Interactive gardening at Silverado is part of Nexus, an evidence-based program for residents with early-stage dementia. Nexus is based on cutting-edge research that suggests there may be ways to delay the onset of dementia and/or slow its progression.
