Jessica Guerrero, Silverado Escondido’s Director of Resident Engagement, just marked ten years as an associate at the community. While a decade as an associate certainly a milestone to celebrate, Jessica’s connection to the community goes back even further – she’s been coming to the community since she was five years old!
Children have a noticeably positive effect on residents, so Silverado encourages their presence in communities. Associates are encouraged to bring their children to work so that they may bring energy and vitality to the environment while also getting a valuable experience interacting with seniors affected by memory impairment. Jessica’s mother, a caregiver at the community, started bringing Jessica in while she was still a kindergartener, and it changed the course of her life and inspired her in the best of ways!
Jessica grew up at Silverado, where her innately caring personality was allowed to flourish. When she was finally old enough, Jessica joined Silverado officially as a Caregiver. Soon after, she was promoted to Lead Caregiver, then Administrative Assistant. Jessica’s current role as Director of Resident Engagement is a perfect fit, where she can use everything she’s learned in her time at the community (both as an associate and visitor!) to enrich the lives of residents and help her fellow associates.
When asked what her position at Silverado means to her, Jessica responds “My life revolves around this environment and I don’t know what I would do without it.” Adding “I love what I do and, most of all, the residents.”
When Silverado was founded more than 26 years ago, the company’s founders wanted to create a place that was just as impactful to associates as it was to the families they served. Jessica’s story is their dream made reality, and she is a shining example of Silverado’s mission to change the world!
