Giving of oneself to help others is more than just a trait of Silverado’s culture – it’s in the DNA of each associate. Recently three Silverado leaders showed a new level of this dedication when they completed the Chicago Marathon for charities!
On the morning of Sunday, October 8, Regional Director of Operations Katie Hilburn, Silverado St. Charles Administrator Jill Parrish and Silverado Frederick Administrator Maddy Davis lined up with around 45,000 other runners and prepared to tackle the 26.2-mile course. Despite the chilly weather, inspiration was on their side, as the trio were running to help raise money for two very important organizations – The Alzheimer’s Association and Organization for Autism Research (OAR).
Katie and Maddy were running for team Alz Stars, which broke a fundraising record by raising more than $750,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association to date! Jill’s inspiration was very personal, running in support of her son. This was Katie’s first marathon, while Jill had completed the Chicago Marathon once before and Maddy ran in the New York Marathon last year.
“It was so inspiring being part of this ALZ team and reading everyone’s ‘WHY’ that was motivating them to run’” shared Katie. “What kept me motivated during the six-month training regimen was thinking about all of the stories I had read, and all of the personal experience of walking through this journey with others for 18 years,” she added.
Congratulations to our three marathon superstars – You inspire us all, and truly represent the heart and soul of Silverado!
