Stephen F. Winner, M.S.
Co-Founder/Chief of Culture Emeritus
Silverado Co-founder Steve Winner has an ability to deeply connect with the human spirit. Putting that gift into action has transformed the way care is provided to people with memory impairment.
Steve recognized early in his career that a dementia diagnosis did not mean the end of a purposeful life. He has a proven ability to conceptualize, develop and manage unique communities and programs, providing unmatched quality of life for people with memory impairment while also achieving profitability.
From his early work in metal health and with the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Program at the University of California San Diego, to national recognition of his programs from the White House Conference on Aging, Steve has truly dedicated his life to changing the way the world cares for people with cognitive decline.
Over his career, Steve’s impact has been exponential as he has trained thousands of Silverado associates, spoken at dozen’s of Alzheimer’s-related events, and co-authored New Possibilities in Memory Care: The Silverado Story.
Steve retired in 2016, yet continues to serve as an inspiration at Silverado and beyond.
