Holding onto lifelong interests is a significant part of continuing a good quality of life for those with dementia
Silverado resident Paul Bierbrier’s gift for art had provided him with a means of focus and expression for most of his life, but when he was diagnosed with dementia his interest in making art waned. Until he came to Silverado…
After Paul began creating art again, his community hosted an exhibit featuring more than 25 pieces of his artwork, spanning six decades. The Art of P. Bierbrier exhibit and silent auction featured his work, expressed in a variety of genres and mediums — with a particular focus on abstracts in oil on canvas.
The event — which also raised more than $1,200 for the Alzheimer’s Association — represents a practice central to Silverado’s care, which is enriching lives of those with dementia by helping residents experience the fulfillment of achievement, giving and engagement.
